Class Association: Membership
The International Canoe is administered worldwide by the International Canoe Federation and within the UK by the British Canoe Union Sailing Committee (the Class Association) which is part of the BCU.
The BCU Sailing Committee (BCUSC) benefits from the resources provided by the BCU (promoting IC sailing worldwide and central office resources) but as no financial grant is provided, the BCUSC therefore raises funds independently through an annual subscription.
The BCUSC performs important functions including monitoring and regulating the rules of the class, organising championships, open meetings and training events, maintaining the IC website which includes a forum and a resource centre, publishing a newsletter, publicising and promoting the IC, boat registration, issuing new sail numbers and measurement certificates, and liaising with other IC Associations around the world regarding international competitions.
Membership of the Class Association is mandatory for a member to take part in all class organised racing and training events organised under the auspices of the BCUSC. Membership is allows access to the 'members only section' of this website for latest information and newsletters, tuning tips and help as well as for entering national and international events.
Membership Application forms and standing order mandate can be found here.
Individual membership of the BCU (or Scottish Canoe Association, Welsh Canoe Association or Canoe Association of Northern Ireland) provide additional benefits including £10m third party liability insurance; 15% discount at Cotswold Outdoor and other selected canoe retailers; and Canoe Focus magazine.
